Orlistat is a generic name for the fat absorption inhibitor, Xenical. Xenical is used for management of obesity including weight loss and weight loss management when used in conjunction with a reduced-calorie diet.
Xenical reduces the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins, such as Vitamin A, D, and E, as well as beta-carotene. Xenical works by inactivating enzymes necessary for breaking down dietary fat.
